The Gathering Place is a small, family-run farm kitchen in Shoolagiri serving homestyle Kerala cooking, made with vegetables grown on the farm. It moved its orders, kitchen and books onto Tournant in May 2026.
Cooking to Order, Not to a Guess.
A farm kitchen cannot buy in bulk and freeze the rest. What it cooks is what was picked that morning, so it has to know how many plates each service needs before the stove goes on. Without orders in advance, that number is a guess every day.
The Gathering Place now takes every meal as a pre-order with a fixed cut-off. By the time breakfast prep starts, the night's orders are in and added up by dish.

Guests Order Ahead
Each meal service has its own cut-off, so the menu stops taking orders for lunch at 11 and the kitchen knows its numbers before it starts cooking.
The Kitchen Works From a Screen
Orders land on the kitchen display grouped by dish. The cook marks them ready; the counter sees it at once.
Regulars Run a Tab
Guests who eat every day settle weekly or monthly. Each one has a running statement, and a payment clears their oldest bills first.
Payments Settle Themselves
Online payments mark orders paid on their own, so the day's takings add up without a spreadsheet.

Some of The Gathering Place's business customers pay for other guests' meals. On 27 July 2026 the team asked to settle one customer's bill from another's account. It was live on 29 July: an order can now be billed to someone else, shows on both statements, and either of them can pay it.
That is how Tournant is built. The people running a kitchen on it every day file what gets in their way from inside the app, and those requests decide what gets built next.
